Pacifist 3.6.1 2018-10-15 20.1 MB Shareware $20.00 OS X. Utility to search, view and manage PDF files in one place, like iPhoto for your documents.
At a given moment, we might be interested in extracting just a single document or folder from a compressed file. It could avoid us wasting time and filling our operating system with junk, but it's a function that isn't present in Mac OS X.
Extract files and folders individually
However, we can make use of Pacifist, a tool that allows us to extract files of folders individually from packages of files compressed in different formats. In particular, we can extract the following:
- PKG
- DMG
- ZIP
- TAR
- TAR.GZ
- TAR.BZ2
- XAR
No more full installs to replace a single damaged file.
But the individual extraction of files and folders isn't the only useful function available. We can also verify our current installs and find lost or altered files, without forgetting about accessing its kernel that, on the one hand, allows it to find out what has been installed, and on the other, if the installer has been developed by Apple or a third party.
- Minimum operating system requirements: Mac OS X 10.8.
